What customers say?

“ Dinner on the patio was great. We tried every taco they sell! They were all unique, delicious, with super fresh ingredients! We don’t drink, but there are a ton of options. Staff were great. Check out the menu in advance for pricing - which could be a little lower as the tacos are individually priced. We will be back! ”

“ This place is great. No idea why it isn’t packed. Great patio, great food, great drinks. Walk the 5 mins from the beach and eat here ”

“ The Mule in Port Dover is a deliciously different place to enjoy good Mexican-type food & drink in a unique setting! We discovered this place too late in the season to be able to enjoy their extensive outdoor patio that promises to be an awesome place to dine in warmer weather. But we were happy to be able to dine inside this time because it’s worth the experience: a colourful décor with a warm Mexican vibe. The only negative is the uncomfortable metal chairs they have, but that could be more a reflection of the lack of padding I have on that part of my anatomy than anything else. The food & atmosphere are so good that I’ll probably just bring a cushion next time. Their menu is designed in such a way that at first, you’d question whether they actually had any food to offer at all! The first four pages of the menu feature only drinks, from cocktails to margaritas to beer, with an entire page devoted to tequilas, and another entire page devoted to bourbons! Very impressive indeed. Especially when you see that they also offer flights of the various varieties! But it’s only when you hit the last page that you finally discover the food. Their offerings are divided into Tacos and Not Tacos. Very cute :) We started off with some offerings from the latter: guacamole & chips and fries supreme with beef & pork. The fries plate was to die for! It was sooooo good! It consisted of crispy spiced French fries with a lightly spiced queso and shredded cheddar cheese, along with pico de gallo, lime crema and green onion with ground beef & pork on top. Just WOW! For tacos, we tried the pork belly taco and the achiote chicken taco, along with two tacos from a special feature menu: the piggy bean taco (not sure why they called it that because there are no beans on it!) and the fried portobello mushroom taco. All of them were stacked, messy to eat, and absolutely delicious! If we had to pick a favourite, it would probably be piggy bean taco. Need to get that one on the regular menu! An indication of how good the food was is that I only managed to take one picture of it, the very first dish we had. It wasn’t until after we’d polished everything off that I remembered I’d wanted to take photos of everything! Next time, hopefully. All of the tacos were somewhat spicy, so my wife was thankful for a bottle of cold Jarritos and I was able to cool my tongue with a glass of cold beer. Service was friendly & attentive. The chef was very amusing in the kitchen wearing a taco hat! Highly recommend that you try this place! We will definitely be back! ”

“ Only reason not 5 star was that it is a taco restaurant and they were out of guacamole. That is a strange staple item to not have enough of as it is a must as far as I'm concerned. Air conditioning would have been nice too but you get that hot experience as if you were in Mexico. The tacos were quite good although my fault that I didn't ask for the brisket option med or med rare instead of well done. All that being said ...great little place and great patio as well. We will be back for sure but I will call first and make sure there is guacamole. ”

“ This place is a vibe! Kristen was an amazing server, and the food was delicious. The ceviche was awesome, I think it's the only place is town to get it, can't wait to go back to have it again. The Taco's were all delicious, best I've had in a while. ”

“ Great location just off Main St., across from the park. Lots of patio seating. Street parking available. Three of us dined on a Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm (approx), a table was available, no reservation, although they were busy. We shared a corn salad, tortilla chips w black bean dip, and three kinds of tacos (perch, pulled pork, and chicken). Three are lots for one person, prices were reasonable. Good variety of draft and canned beer. Very friendly and professional staff. Will return. ”

“ Enjoyed my first visit to The Mule. We were greeted by an incredibly friendly staff member upon arrival and was seated immediately. The drink and food menu were explained and our drink order was taken. We tried a variety of appetizers and tacos as well as their signature cocktails and all were fabulous. (Food: Birria Foldies, Calamari, Fish Taco, The Brussel Sprouts, The Habanero Brisket, The Fried Chicken) (Drinks: The Paris Girl, Coconut Margarita, Tasteful Nudes, Southern Spiritz) Being that the restaurant is in Port Dover I was surprised there wasn't perch tacos on the menu however the fish taco offered was good. Our waitress made a delicious coconut margarita which needs to be on the menu. It was exquisite to experience. The dinning area is small but look forward to many afternoons on the large patio this summer. ”

“ Flavourful menu with solid vegan options- the brussels sprouts taco is out of this world! The patio was bright and summery but also had lots of shady spots and the music across the street in the park was an added bonus to the ambience ”
